Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy; Entry 1
I am reading Quiet Strength. In the book Dungy captures the toughness of being an NFL head coach, and as he says, making sure you keep God first in everything you do. The book begins in 2001, when Dungy has completely rebuilt the Buccaneers organization, from a losing franchise to a 4 tome playoff team. He had developed a brand new defense that will be the talk of the league for many years to come. Yet despite all this he was fired in January of 2002 due to his inability to lead his team to a set of playoff wins. At this time, he returns to his youth and talks about how he became the person he is today. He grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. His mother was a teacher at a local high school and his father was a teacher at Mighigan State. He was taught from a young age that above all things he needed to do what was right, and above all things he had to be doing something that would make him better in life. As a boy Dungy always wanted to learn and challenge himself to do more. He was the star Basketball player and quarterback on his high school team. He graduated tops in his class and chose to attend The University of Minnesota.,
